Introducing the latest idea for sleeping on a plane

Boeing has filed a patent for an unusual new contraption that looks like a backpack and promises to make sleeping and travelling by plane a lot more comfortable for passengers.

Trying to sleep on a plane is arguably one of the most frustrating things about flying, especially when you’re on a long-haul flight and you know you ought to sleep in order to avoid jet lag later on. Travelling in economy class with this in mind can be a nightmare. Boeing is hoping to change all that with a new idea.

The Seattle-based aircraft manufacturer has turned its attention to the comfort of passengers with their latest device patent, a “Transport Vehicle Upright Sleep Support System.”

It’s the merger of a cushion, backpack and pillow, into a device that supports a passenger’s head and chest. It allows passengers to lean forward, resting their weight against it in a bit to get a good night’s rest on a long-haul flight.

What do you think of Boeing’s idea?
